Today’s photograph is all about contrasts. Like a midcentury modern painting by the abstract expressionist Barnett Newman, the color juxtapositions are at maximum contrast, which have the impact of creating a lot of visual excitement while maintaining a flat surface. But the focus of the soft background against the hard foreground contrasts texture where the feathery weeds abut the straight planes of the metal tank.
